A new Broadway production of The House of Blue Leaves, John Guare’s classic 1971 comedy, is headed for the Walter Kerr Theatre, starring Ben Stiller, Edie Falco and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Tickets are now on sale for this highly anticipated revival, which will be directed by David Cromer (Our Town).
The play takes us back to 1965, when all of New York was gearing up for a Yankee Stadium rally and speech by the Pope. Zookeeper and aspiring songwriter Artie Shaughnessy (Stiller) juggles the demands of his housebound wife, Bananas (Falco), and larger-than-life mistress, Bunny (Leigh), plus a son named Ronnie who’s ready to resort to violence to get attention.
Stiller has a long history with Guare’s play: His comedienne mother, Anne Meara, played Bunny in the original 1971 off-Broadway production, and Stiller himself played Ronnie in a 1986 Broadway revival. With its focus on the power of celebrity, The House of Blue Leaves has never been more timely, so get tickets today for this exciting Broadway show!
